Dungeness Roundhouse Complex

The Roundhouse complex comprises the original early 19th Century roundhouse and two 2 bedroomed cottages and is situated on the South coast of Kent. Dungeness is a remote and unique area and is increasingly sought after by those wishing to escape to peace and quiet. Remote it may be but it is only 25 miles from Ashford, Folkestone and France and only an hour and a half from London. For more details on the area see www.dungeness.org.uk

Within the roundhouse itself there is a self contained 2 bedroomed maisonette. This is let partly furnished or can be unfurnished. There are four equal size rooms about 12 feet square (although being within a round house they can be likened to four segments. The two on the ground floor are bedrooms with the two on the first floor being a living room and kitchen. There is a separate shower room off of the kitchen. Heating is from off peak electric storage radiators.

The maisonette is facing north with views to the nuclear power station and open beach towards Lydd. rent £400.00 pcm

The remainder of the first floor of the roundhouse forms the owners quarters and comprises two large double bedrooms, living room, bathroom and kitchen. Polished, original wooden floorboards grace the whole apartment and although centrally heated from an oil fired boiler the large living area does have an impressive multi fuelled cast iron heater. The kitchen has purpose built units and overall the flat has an understated air of classic originality. From the living quarters there is access to an inner courtyard topped with a polycarbonate dome and mezzanine floor giving spectacular views across the channel and the Romney Marsh.

The ground floor comprises a 1 bedroomed studio apartment (not currently available for letting, a large workshop and a unique feature in the brick dome (half of the globe of some 25 feet diameter upon which the whole roundhouse structure is supported. This feature would make an ideal gallery.

The bungalows known as the East and West Cottages comprise 4 equal sized rooms (approx. 12 feet square) and are currently used as two bedrooms a dining room and a living room. Both have galley kitchens off the dining room and the East Cottage has a bathroom, the West having a shower room. Both are centrally heated - the East by oil and the West by LPG. Both have small gardens which a dedicated to wildlife and both have detached garages.
